Where elements of the frame are missing or irreparable, we can carry out specialist wood and gesso carving before re-finishing to the original style to maintain authentic value. Frames can be strengthened to provide sufficient structural support and stability. We can replace glass to match the period of the piece, for example, antique glass has imperfections such as ripples and small air bubbles. Damage to the finish can be rectified using gilding, oriental lacquers, french polishing or other techniques to match the original finishing style.
