The majority of historic and high-value properties feature stonework in some form. Used in construction from the early years of architecture, where it once was depended on to provide structural integrity, it has more recently been used in an decorative manner, to enhance or embellish.

Many of Britain’s most prestigious properties feature elaborate stone carvings of some form or another. Restoring or replicating these impressive features – many of which date from many centuries ago – requires great skill.

At Farcroft Restorations Group, our team of expert stone masons is adept at splicing replacement pieces of ashlar into existing stonework to restore and repair damaged stone features. All additions are cleaned and polished by hand to ensure a perfect result.

Stone Flooring

A high quality floor should last many years, and retain its beauty throughout its lifespan. But, by their nature, floors must withstand a great deal. Stone Conservation

Exterior stonework can be damaged or deteriorate over time, but prompt action taken to reverse problems at an early stage can avoid the need for extensive restoration work. Using specialist stone cleaning methods, our stonework conservation experts can turn back the hands of time for exterior stone affected by wet weather, pollution, vegetation, or just general wear and tear. Once clean and uncontaminated, the stones can then be treated using modern processes that seal them, providing longer-lasting protection against the elements.

Damage to structural stonework can be potentially devastating in any property, but even more so in historic buildings, where the cost of repairing extensive damage can be prohibitive, causing them to fall into complete disrepair and be lost forever.
